Christina Peña

Professional Development Manager

Christina started her career in education with Teach for America where she taught 3rd grade at Success Academy Bronx II. She then moved to Uncommon Schools where she took over 4th grade math instruction at Leadership Prep Brownsville, leading to a 47% increase in proficiency and 100% of her students passing the state mathematics exam. She taught 4th grade for an additional two years and coached teachers on classroom management and instructional techniques as an Instructional Leader. Christina received her MA in Teaching from Relay Graduate School of Education and has a BA in English from Duke University.

If Christina could be any fictional character from a book she would be Sara Crewe from Frances Hodgson Burnett’s A Little Princess because her fierce imagination and storytelling allowed her to get through even the toughest situations.
