Lauren started in education with Teach for America and spent five years teaching in Los Angeles charter schools. She was a founding teacher at Santa Rosa Charter Academy, teaching 6th and 7th grade History, before she moved on to Camino Nuevo Charter Academy, where she taught Humanities, Reading and English Language Development. During her time at Camino Nuevo, Lauren became the Instructional Cadre leader and head of the Common Core Transition. She was also a coach for Students Run LA and ran the LA Marathon twice, with teams of over 20 students. Lauren received her Masters in Urban Education, with a focus on Administration and Policy, and has a BA in Social Thought & Political Economy from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
If Lauren could be any fictional character she would be Hermione from J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series because she is brilliant, determined, and – most importantly – a very good friend.
