Minutes Read YTD

  • School ID 985 has steadily increased in Minutes Read YTD over the course of the year. The slope of the line is much steeper between the months of October-November than December - February, indicating that after the lull in LightSail usage in December due to testing and the holiday break, students and teachers used LightSail less frequently.
  • From March 1st - March 10th, the minutes read YTD amounted to 8,190 minutes. Thus far, students cumulatively read 194 more minutes in March (prior to Spring Break).

Average Minutes Read YTD

  • As students continue to read, we are looking for the average minutes to climb. On average, students have increased their reading minutes over the course of the year. Due to a strong start in the beginning of the year, the average minutes YTD at the end of February fell right below the expected average minutes on the trend line.
  • From March 1st - March 10th, the average minutes read YTD increased to 94 minutes per student.

Lexile Growth Progress

METRIC
Average Lexile Growth YTD 22
# of Students with Lexile Update 56
% of Students with Lexile Update 56%
  • Since completing the Power Challenge, on average students have grown 22 Lexile points. However, only 56% of students had a Lexile update this cycle, which means that 44% of the students reading did not complete enough Power Clozes within the last 15 day cycle to get a Lexile Update.
  • In terms of Lexile to grade level achievement, 56 students (62%) have Lexile scores that are below grade level. 14 students (15%) are approaching grade level, 13 students (14%) are on grade level, and 8 students (9%) are above grade level.

Average Lexile Growth

  • On average, student Lexile growth has remained consistent around 20 Lexile points.
  • Based on analysis of the data, this dip is most likely due to students not reading Power Texts within their Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD), and students not logging enough reading minutes to increase their Lexile scores.

Lexile Growth Distribution

  • The majority of students (34 students, 39%) have made positive growth, 31 students (36%) are without an update, 21 students (24%) are declining in Lexile scores, and 1 student (1%) is without growth.
  • Launch Lesson 2: Cloze Lesson will help address the 60% of students that are declining in Lexile scores or have no update by teaching students the importance of Power Texts, as well as strategies to answer Cloze questions.
