
Highlighting the student achievement gains from LightSail’s summer reading program, Edelman wrote: “The results were tremendous: students read an average of 24.7 minutes per day, completed approximately 5.1 books over the summer, and the program totally reversed the ‘summer learning slide’ that is sadly typical for low-income students. On average, the students made reading gains over the summer.”
