New Learning Times: Gideon Stein on founding LightSail Education

26157_nltLightSail founder and CEO Gideon Stein was featured in a recent interview where he discussed the founding of LightSail. The article described LightSail’s goal to get, and keep,   students engaged by providing a library of books, texts, and assessments that are appropriate for students’ personal abilities while adapting as they progress.

“The beauty of having embedded, real-time assessment is twofold,” he said. “First, students get immediate feedback on how they are progressing. Along with built-in rewards, this helps motivate them to increase the volume of their reading along with advancing the difficulty of the texts they choose. Second, teachers have immediate insight into student engagement and the opportunity to act more quickly to help struggling readers.”
