With schools closed around the world, and children confined to their homes during this challenging COVID pandemic, LightSail invited students to write and publish their very own book, using our very own Student Authored Book module, to our Global LightSail Universe Library!

This contest was designed to push the boundaries of creativity, foster a love of writing and enhance literacy instruction during distance learning.

Over 6,000 students wrote books in LightSail, and more than 350 student authors, from 11 countries, were chosen to have their book published in the LightSail Universe Library. LightSail readers from around the world can now enjoy their book!

These student authored books have been read and enjoyed by more than 11,500 students around the world. Our panel of teachers selected 8 outstanding authors by grade level, as award winners.
