LightSail Announces New District Partners

LIGHTSAIL ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIPS WITH NEARLY 100 SCHOOL DISTRICTS

Award-winning literacy tool expands across the U.S.

NEW YORK, September 11, 2015 – LightSail, the adaptive reading platform that helps students, classrooms and school districts exceed their literacy goals, is pleased to announce that it is working with nearly 100 school districts for the 2015-2016 academic year.

LightSail students get access to personalized libraries filled with thousands of engaging, just-right texts to choose from. The award-winning solution embeds in-text assessments that motivate students to increase the volume of their reading along with the difficulty of the texts they choose.

LightSail teachers get real-time access to meaningful data about student reading behavior, comprehension, and growth so they can provide the necessary guidance to enhance learning and encourage a love of reading.

Schools use LightSail to support independent reading, small group work, and whole-class instruction. Its library combines content from more than 400 publishers with instructional tools for educators, including formative assessments with every text. With hundreds of schools and hundreds of thousands of students reading on its platform, LightSail is one of the fastest growing literacy solutions in K-12.

“‪LightSail has given our teachers ways to personalize instruction that were previously impossible – and even unimaginable. Our students are engaged and the progress our literacy programs are making is truly unexpected,” said Patrick Larkin, Assistant Superintendent for Learning in Burlington Public Schools, a district in Greater Boston.

“Our rapid growth is something we take incredible pride in and we know that it wouldn’t be possible without educators and administrators spreading the word that this tool works for their students,” LightSail founder and CEO Gideon Stein said. “We are always pleased to bring new districts into our community and look forward to our strongest school year yet.”
