LIGHTSAIL WINS RETURN ON EDUCATION AWARD AT ASU+GSV SUMMIT

Selected for VentureED Honors By ASU+GSV Summit Leaders

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., April 8, 2015 – LightSail, the adaptive K-12 literacy solution, was named the 2015 Return On Education Award VentureED Winner at the sixth annual ASU+GSV Education Innovation Summit.

More than 225 venture-stage companies presented over the three-day Summit, and a panel of Summit leaders selected LightSail as one of the top three companies, along with Tynker and Acrobatiq.

“Winning the 2015 Return On Education VentureED award at the ASU+GSV Summit is a huge honor for LightSail,” said Gideon Stein, LightSail’s Founder and CEO. “In our first year in schools, LightSail is accelerating literacy growth for students in large and small districts across the country. We are thrilled that some of most respected leaders in the ed tech community recognize our accomplishments, and the potential for LightSail to improve literacy outcomes for all students.”

Known to many as “Davos in the Desert,” the ASU+GSV Summit brings together thousands of visionary ed tech leaders for high-impact discussions and debates, contributing toward global enrichment in education.

ROE nominees were judged based on the following tangible learning outcomes:

–   Significantly increasing access to education
–   Greatly reducing the cost for learners and/or learning institutions
–   Dramatically improving learning outcomes
–   Providing substantial leverage to learning leaders
–   Making a sustainable and scaled impact

In recent months, LightSail was also named the winner of the Mindful Data Digital Innovation in Learning Award from EdSurge and Digital Promise and received Best Ed Tech of 2014 honors from Common Sense Media’s Graphite site for educators, where LightSail has received the highest educator reviews of any literacy product.
