THE PATCH: Hauppauge’s Forest Brook Elementary School Wins National Reading Contest

logo-patch-800x600The Hauppauge Patch celebrated the news of Forest Brook Elementary’s 1st place win of The LightSail 25 in a recent news release. The victory came by students reading an average of 1,373 minutes (nearly 23 hours) over the course of a month. The school won $3,000 worth of premium e-books from LightSail as a prize.

One of the challenge’s top overall teachers, Eileen Doda, said of contest, “The LightSail 25 proved to build the stamina of every one of my students as a reader. I am so very proud of my students’ reading accomplishments as they worked together as a group to reach a common goal.”
