ZANESVILLE TIMES RECORDER: Dollar General Grant Helps Local Students Read

The Zanesville Times Recorder published a story on the collaboration between the Dollar General Literacy Foundation, the Muskingum County Library System, Zanesville City Schools, and LightSail, to help accelerate literacy development among elementary students at John McIntire Elementary School. Through a grant from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation, the library was able to purchase iPads, digital books, and LightSail licenses for 5th graders at John McIntire.

Of the initiative, Muskingum County Library Board President Alice Graham said, ” “As libraries seek to stay relevant in today’s world of electronic books, this became a perfect opportunity to provide important resources for students in our town. In our community, statistics show a drop in reading scores between fourth and fifth grades and yet we know how important it is to bridge the gap between learning to read and reading to learn.” Read the entire article here.
